Lovely April weather we're having this May, damp washing hangs forlornly in the rain, awaiting a second wash as we pray for half an hour of sun to dry it properly. It's been re-washed twice. Stupid rain.

My throat is protesting that I have a cold, yet I still have to go to work because I start a new job next week. There is only a week left to glean all I can from the girl who is leaving to spawn. I will be acting up to be the Faculty Senior (ie, 'only') Timetabler. It's extremely complicated and a little bit exciting, not to mention that I will be a grade 4 for a year.

...

In time honoured tradition I am accused of cocking up the system by which our students have to make their module choices for next year. On the phone, I look it up and say no, it's all correct as far as I can tell. The whining voice begins, pleeeeease....

Not only is she clicking on last year's link to last year's database, but she asks me later where the 'favourites' menu is on IE. After I point out the obvious flaw, being the year '2005' instead of '2006' in the url she seems happy, albeit somewhat confused.

This is the same person who described the Geography Field Trip as a 'holiday', the one who talks incessantly at me before I've had my coffee, the one who fakes terrible injuries and just tells you about them even if you're looking the other way or talking to someone else. It's not just me either, she has everyone's backs up, not least because she's too lazy to use her brains. Ever.

It's not so much that I was accused of being wrong when I was clearly right, or that it is a tremendously long way down the corridor to poke my finger at the screen of someone who is too incompetent to understand what I mean when I say The white box next to where it says 'Address', but I find it extremely difficult to remain calm and patient when the person I am talking to is obviously just too lazy to think for herself.

Can't you just send me another link? She wails, when I spell out the url she needs to type in the address bar, after my suggestion that simply changing the number '5' to a '6' would do it falls on stupid ears. I don't know. I worry how many students will not get their choices now that this idiot has been let loose on their requests.

Still, it could be worse. Someone else has been going into the system and making new versions of things which is all well and good, but they are now falling off the choice lists so the ickle students can't pick them! Who do they blame? Just guess.
