Sneak preview of an UpAndComing review (couple of days) of last Friday's Goatlab:
Also I got this on my Flickr mail the other day:
:: Schmap: Bristol Photo InclusionHi Skip The Budgie,
I am delighted to let you know that one of your photos with a creative commons license has been selected for inclusion in our newly released Schmap Bristol Guide.

Clicking this link will take you to a page where you can: i) See which of your photos has been selected for inclusion. ii) Learn how we credit photos in our Schmap Guides. iii) Download a copy of the guide, complete with your credited photo.
...
Please enjoy the guide!
Further discussion of this photo-poaching phenomenon can be found on Flickr and here, where the copyright conspirators argue with the apathists and advertising haters.
There is of course an important issue we should take into account here, I guess the fact that the Schmap 'travel guides' require you to install yet another piece of software on to your precious machine brings up lots of spyware/adware/bloatware worries. However, I think the fact that the company took the time to go on to Flickr and try to reassure people is a good sign. The picture they're using is a bit sh1t anyway so it's not really a big deal for me but still...
I was very pleased to see my picture of Anton Maiof on the flyer for Goatlab and also some other places on the web:
- In the Video 'Curl'
- Holgerbaehren's Journal
- Wikimedia Commons (there are a few here)
- ...and various of my MySpace space friends...
Anyway, enough of the ego stroking. Work is still pretty full on data entry and desperate students. The good news is that my new piano is now tuned (initially at least) so I can start playing again! Go Me.
