Biography

I came to Bristol in 1997 to study Music at Bristol University and didn’t leave! So there is a lot of local influence in my music. I like a wide range of music, basically anything I think is ‘good’ irrespective of genre, but primarily rock, metal, drum and bass, hiphop, funk, electronica (like Ninja Tune style). My friends will agree that my interpretation of ‘good music’ is vastly different to everyone else’s and I have a habit of upsetting people by being so strong in my views! I always insist however, that I am open to being proved wrong, except when it comes to House, Garage, Country, Americana or any chart pap (people who know me will no doubt have their own understanding of the word ‘open’ as used in the above context).

I have been interested in music since a very early age, and it started to consume my life properly when I was about 14 as I obsessively began collecting Pink Floyd, Queen and Metallica tapes. I learned piano and singing up to grade 8 standard whilst at school, and picked up the guitar when I inherited my mother’s folk-singing guitar (well I begged for it) at 17, which I have concentrated on for the last 9 years. Unfortunately, I never really got the hang of playing lead guitar, being a singer as well I’ve always found it easier to concentrate on rhythm and harmonies.

I have played in bands, most notably in the band ‘snow crash’, whose music you will find on this site. We played a few gigs, people liked us, it faded away… long story. Since then, I have focussed on building up my CD collection, and working on music in the bedroom, recorded into my computer.
